“My name’s Jeremy.  I’m originally from Hermosa Beach, California.  My mom passed when I was about 7, my Dad split, and I’ve been homeless from age 9 until now.  45 years.

Everyone’s struggling.  We all got pot problems, we all got alcohol problems.  That’s just how we do it, for the most part.  The rain – we don’t mind it, but we hate getting soaking wet.

I do love hearing people’s stories – what they’ve been through.  We’ve all been through a lot.

Most people don’t recognize what it’s like to be homeless.  They don’t understand.  They put us down, they degrade us.

The cops especially.  They always come in and wreck us.  But it’s all good.  I’m out of here tomorrow.  The cops came yesterday and said we all had to go.  I said, ‘Florida Keys’.  Two hours later, the cop had my bus ticket.  So I’m off tomorrow.  Me and my boy.  That’s what you get when you don’t give a fuck and don’t let nobody get the best of you.

Home, to me… damn, I don’t really know.  I’ve lived all over.  Where I lay my head at.  For real.  But I’m excited to be in the Florida Keys!”
